VideoSurveillance.com Sponsors New Crowdsource Mapping Project for Safer Cities
We're excited to announce that we're the official sponsor of CommunityCam, a new crowd-source mapping tool that allows Internet users to post the locations of private and public video surveillance cameras across the U.S., starting in Philadelphia. As the fifth most populated city in the country, Philadelphia's entire metropolitan region- spanning five counties- has an estimated population of six million and counting. The goal of this project is to quickly expand to other cities.
The purpose of CommunityCam is to help those who have been affected by crime. Should anyone become a victim of a crime, they can go directly to CommunityCam's website to find out if there is a nearby security camera that may have captured the crime. Mapped security cameras will hopefully play a key role in solving more crimes and catching criminals. There are a multitude of advantages for the build-out of CommunityCam, such as providing residents and tourists with safer routes and areas that have enhanced security. It's incredibly easy to upload the location of a security camera through CommunityCam, which offers step-by-step instructions on its site.
Now that CommunityCam is up and running in Philadelphia, anyone can visit its site to plot the address and/or area of security cameras in neighborhoods and business parks. CommunityCam is specifically targeted at, and designed to benefit citizens, city influencers, law enforcement, community watch organizations, businesses, parents and families, tourist groups, and realtors.
