A new ordinance passed in Plymouth, Michigan will soon require all downtown bars and restaurants with outdoor seating to install security cameras. Beginning in April 2013, the city's ordinance will impact at least 10 businesses. Plymouth Downtown Development Authority (DDA) drafted the ordinance, which was then submitted to the Plymouth City Council. As reported by Direct Free Press, the city's ordinance affects only businesses with liquor licenses.

Upstart European microbrewery Zerodegrees has chosen Axis network cameras to provide video surveillance for its new restaurant in Bristol and future brewery sites. A total of sixteen Axis IP cameras monitor the company's Bristol location, helping to ensure that video footage is usable for police identification purposes, and for keeping a close watch on the day-to-day operation of the business.

It's a good thing that 27 year old Christopher Hague, of Staten Island NY, asked to see the surveillance video from the bar where he was arrested. Hague was taken into custody in 2007 when the NYPD tied him to a leather jacket containing narcotics.

The comprehensive network surveillance system, known as CheckView, is being used to heighten security and curb shrinkage - the age-old problem of lost assets. CheckView is an integrated point of sale (POS) and video system that operates using Milestone's XProtect software. The combination of CheckView and XProtect gives McDonald's the ability to take advantage of the most cutting-edge IP surveillance technology.

Two of the greatest things in the world are ice cream and cash. This week in Melbourne, Florida, a cold-hearted thief visited a Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop and walked off with both. The man in question was in the process of purchasing an undisclosed varietal of ice cream when he slyly stuck his mitts into the employee tip jar and scooped out $160 in folding cash. How do we know this? It's all caught on video provided by the shop's surveillance system.
