Five-star resort upgrades outdoor surveillance system with Vivotek network cameras
When the five-star tourist resort and residential community Montebelo Aguieira Lake Resort and Spa in Portugal went looking for a way to upgrade their existing limited outdoor surveillance system, they turned to Vivotek to provide a centralized system for monitoring and recording images.
The new outdoor surveillance system covers over 35 hectares, 152 apartments and villas, a hotel, a multi-purpose pavilion with a 400 seat restaurant and a 400-berth marina. When designing the system, the resort had a few key criteria that needed to be met. The cameras needed to be centrally connected and use WiMax and wired Ethernet, they needed to integrate easily with two existing analog CCTV cameras and be robust enough to withstand outdoor elements. The cameras also needed to be discreet enough to not detract from the carefully cultivated aesthetic on the grounds.
The resort decided to use a variety of Vivotek cameras to meet their needs. Twelve Vivotek IP7142 cameras are installed at various access points to monitor the resort's roads. The cameras are equipped with a wide dynamic range (WDR) sensor to capture detailed video even in high-contrast lighting environments. Also being used are four FD7132 fixed dome network cameras to cover entrances to the pavilion that sits at the center of the resort. True day and night surveillance is provided by IR cut filters and IR illuminators.
High-security areas including the parking lots are monitored using a SD7151 network camera with advanced features and functionality including an 18x optical zoom lens, progressive-scan sensor, flexible pan/tilt capability, and 128 patrolling presets. Two VS7100 video servers help integrate the new IP cameras with the existing analog CCTV cameras.
