Security Cameras Installed in Alabama Statehouse
The Alabama Department of Homeland Security was recently awarded a $72,836 grant to equip the Alabama Statehouse with high-end video surveillance cameras. Spencer Collier, a former legislator, spoke out about the enhanced security plan, saying it will protect Statehouse staff, legislators, and visitors.
Security cameras added to the Statehouse will be installed in the legislative committee rooms. Space was made available after a large block of space was converted to meeting rooms for legislative committees. The state attorney general previously occupied that space. The ramped up security efforts were implemented to better protect the Statehouse and its occupants.
