Mobotix IP cameras provide water management security for South Florida
The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is responsible for protecting the water resources of the South Florida region. In order to achieve its goals, the SFWMD now turns to Mobotix network cameras for video surveillance meant to deter threats to the district's pump stations, catchment basins, flood control structures, and other facilities.
The system uses 147 Mobotix IP cameras. Each camera provides continuous surveillance, but records only when triggered by motion. When a camera detects movement in the image field, it records those activities and automatically triggers an alarm. This helps to save storage space, and also makes it easier for operators to keep an eye on vulnerable areas such as unmanned pump stations.
Another reason the SFWMD chose to install Mobotix IP cameras is their resilience to extreme outdoor conditions. The area experiences its fare share of heavy rain, high humidity and heat, not to mention hurricanes. Since the Mobotix cameras operate with no moving parts, they're able to better withstand these elements than conventional security cameras.
