ASIS 2009: Arecont Vision AV10005 IP camera offers 10 megapixel resolution and H.264 compression

Published by Dan on September 22, 2009 3:57 PM

Arecont Vision is releasing a new high-resolution network camera that uses "MegaVideo" technology. What does that mean? Basically that the new Arecont Vision AV10005 IP camera can stream in multi-megapixel resolution (in this case 3,648 x 2,752 pixels) at up to 5 frames per second using H.264 or MJPEG compression. This is a 10 megapixel network camera that allows users to capture extremely detailed video images at reduced file sizes in order to make the most of available storage space and bandwidth.

The Arecont Vision AV10005 is geared towards the most demanding video surveillance applications. Because of the camera's high resolution, users can follow activity and zero in on parts of a scene without losing image quality. This digital pan/tilt/zoom functionality is a cost-effective alternative to expensive PTZ devices.

The camera offers dual H.264 and MJPEG encoding, and allows for multiple streams with variable frame rates, bit rates, resolution and compression quality. Basically, the user can configure streams individually to meet varying needs in terms of image quality and bandwidth limitations.
