The Metro Area Transit (MAT) system in Omaha, Nebraska is not only getting a new fleet of buses this year, but also a full set of surveillance cameras for each vehicle. Five strategically placed security cameras will be installed in each bus to provide comprehensive monitoring.

This month marks the ten-year anniversary of AL Bank's transition from analog to IP-based video surveillance. Ten years ago the Denmark bank, which has 66 branches and about 1000 employees, switched to a network surveillance solution using open-platform IP video management software from Milestone Systems. Today, the bank continues to use Milestone software to manage a mix of 650 security cameras providing increased safety for customers, employees, and of course assets throughout its many locations.

Bosch has released a new IP camera built to capture clear and detailed video images in difficult nighttime conditions. The Bosch ZX55 features a 9 to 90mm varifocal infrared-corrected lens for flexible video surveillance installations. Using Bosch's proprietary Black Diamond infrared technology, the camera delivers low-noise nighttime imaging up to 300 meters. This allows the ZX55 to provide outstanding long-range detail even after darkness falls.

Oregon's Canby School District has deployed a new IP-based surveillance network supporting 48 IP cameras from JVC. The system features a combination of fixed mini-dome cameras and box cameras monitoring nine facility sites, including six elementary schools, a middle school, high school, and the district business office. All of the cameras are triggered by motion detection, and record to JVC network video recorders.
