Sony SNC-DF40N Mini-Dome Security Camera

With this discreet, versatile surveillance camera, you may manage your camera operations and watch your live, streaming footage remotely, from any computer on the Web. Ideal for use at facility entrance points, retail stores, offices, schools and other indoor public spaces, the SNC-DF40N provides crisp images even in low-light conditions (requires a minimum illumination of .8 Lux). For a camera that can function in extremely low-light conditions, however, consider the SNC-DF70N.

The SNC-DF40N records footage using either JPEG or MPEG-4 videos; with MPEG-4, it's not necessary to sacrifice smooth, crisp images just because your network has limited bandwidth. However, those who require the highest possible quality may still use JPEG for streaming footage. And with a recording capacity of 30 frames per second, your camera will produce consistent, uninterrupted footage in either compression format. You may also choose to take advantage of the SNC-DF40N's bi-directional audio capability for two-way communication at entry points.

A built-in motion detector may be programmed to generate an alarm or other device, such as a lamp or automatic lock, when your camera recognizes movement. The SNC-DF40N uses vector information for motion detection to avoid false alarms; the camera also comes with an input port engineered to receive triggers from external sensors.
