IBM and Axis Form Video Surveillance Partnership

Published by Dan on March 30, 2007 10:20 AM

IBM and Axis Communications are teaming up to release an advanced open framework system for event-based video surveillance that utilizes video analytics and sophisticated indexing. The Digital Video Surveillance solution will support the complete Axis catalog of network cameras and servers, and is fully customizable to meet varying demands.

IBM's advanced digital video surveillance systems require cameras that are up to date with today's cutting edge technologies. IBM believes Axis network cameras fit that mold. IBM is currently utilizing Axis cameras and servers for a number of pilot projects centered on situational awareness, offering centralized monitoring, complex video analytics, and real-time alerts sent across multiple locations. The pilot projects are in place for enterprise-level clients in a handful of different industries.

Additionally, Axis cameras and servers are being incorporated into the IBM system's point-of-sale software which works to manage inventory and prevent retail loss.
