The school district insists that the installation of the Axis network cameras is not about eliminating a current problem. After the hurricane volunteers from all over the country came to the school district to help repair and build homes and schools. With so many people coming and going on the school campuses, the school district wanted help identifying visitors to the school grounds. The Axis network cameras will help to locate any potential problems that might emerge.

Pass Christian has plans to install around 150 Axis network cameras inside and outside of the four schools in the district. The new system will include dome and fixed cameras that will cover high traffic areas such as hallways and classrooms, and common areas such as the cafeteria and outdoor spaces. Those authorized to use the system will be able to monitor the footage from any PC and identify any problem areas. The high resolution of the cameras even allows users to identify license plates of vehicles in the area, helping school officials keep track of those authorized to be on school premises. The Axis cameras also come equipped with pan/tilt/zoom capabilities, which means problem areas can quickly be targeted by administrators. In the future, the school district also hopes that the cameras can be used to capture examples of successful teachers.
