Axis and ExacqVision VMS Software keeps schools safer
Nestled in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains is Loveland, Colorado. Home to Thompson School District (TSD), the area has more than 30 school buildings across 362 square miles. TSD values surveillance for maintaining safety and security of its property and more than 18,000 students and staff. With so much space to cover on a limited budget, TSD poses a significant surveillance challenge. Additionally, TSD uses both Apple and PC computers, so it requires a management program that can accommodate both platforms.
The district has tried to manage its large amount of analog and IP video data with black and white time lapse VCRs, digital voice recorders and video management software. Yet nothing has proven powerful and reliable enough. TSD has finally got a handle on its surveillance with an upgrade to ExacqVision VMS software. The district also added 30 high definition cameras to total 144 Axis network cameras. The new system is better able to monitor vandalism and theft attempts, which has helped cut down on incidents and insurance claims. ExacqVision VMS software manages recording and viewing while allowing faculty access from both computer operating systems. With its intuitive user interface and digital PTZ functionality, the program is well-suited for identifying individuals and accommodating multiple users.
