Vivotek cameras secure water supply in rural Colorado
In the southwest corner of Colorado runs a river called the Dolores. In this rugged, remote country many residents rely completely on treated river water for sanitation and consumption. Every day, Montezuma Water Company (MWC) pipes more than four million gallons of water from a river-fed reservoir. In accordance with increased Homeland Security requirements and to uphold its responsibility to provide safe, potable water, MWC invested in several Vivotek IP7160 and IP7161 cameras.
MWC selected the Vivotek cameras for their economical and efficient surveillance. With two-megapixel CMOS sensors, the cameras produce crystal clear video and detailed images. The IP7161’s removable IR-cut filter enables the camera to capture night video with near-infrared light, making it perfect for monitoring the water treatment plant 24-7. Network video surveillance will help MWC better identify intruders, assure protocol-adherence and even monitor wildlife that may influence water quality.
