Supermarket installs Vivotek network cameras to reduce shrinkage and enhance security
Supermarkets and other retail outlets face daily threats of shoplifting, not only from "customers," but also employees. In addition, there is the potential for internal fraud, credit card fraud, robberies, and violent confrontations. Christian Supermarket, located in Argentina, provides us with an example of how a store can better protect itself with an IP-based surveillance system. The store recently installed 10 Vivotek network cameras to monitor entrances, loading areas, public areas, the parking lot, and point-of-sale transactions.
For its video security needs, Christian Supermarket opted to use the Vivotek IP7135 network camera. The IP7135 is an affordable camera that delivers clear and detailed video images, while using MPEG-4 compression to optimize bandwidth. The cameras can be accessed remotely using a standard Web browser from any computer or 3G-compatible cell phone. Store managers are able to use their cell phones to monitor video and audio, while the market's owner now uses a Vivotek RX701 video receiver to access the footage with his TV serving as a computer monitor.
