Sony introduces new HD network cameras
Sony is adding a pair of high definition network cameras to its catalog of surveillance products. The Sony SNC-CH140 is a fixed camera, while the Sony SNC-DH140 is a mini dome camera designed for applications requiring discreet surveillance. Both models incorporate the company's new high-speed Exmor CMOS image sensor which enhances image quality and offers wide dynamic capabilities for optimal performance in difficult lighting conditions.
By adding the Exmore image sensor, Sony is appealing to users in need of high-definition surveillance solutions. These new camera offerings are designed to capture high resolution images even in the most challenging environments, for instance high-contrast lighting situations. The Sony SNC-CH140 and SNC-DH140 also incorporate innovative View-DR technology which further increases light sensitivity.
To transmit high-resolution video without hoarding bandwidth, both cameras support dual-streaming in H.264, MPEG-4, or JPEG compression formats. They can stream HD-quality footage (1280 x 720 pixels) at up to 30 frames per second in 16:9 aspect ratio. Other key features include intelligent motion detection, Power over Ethernet, and CF card slots for onboard recording. The Sony SNC-CH140 and Sony SNC-DH140 will be available in winter 2010.
