Sony introduces megapixel IP cameras at ISC West 2008

Published by Dan on April 3, 2008 9:33 AM

Sony is amping up its IP surveillance product line with the addition of several new megapixel network cameras. The new models were introduced this week at the ISC West 2008 conference in Las Vegas. This is Sony's first foray into the megapixel camera market. Sony's megapixel offerings include the SNC-DM110 Megapixel Normal mini-dome, the SNC-CM120 Megapixel CS mount Day/Night, and the SNC-DM160 Megapixel Rugged Day/Night mini-dome.

Each camera uses a complementary color progressive scan CCD sensor which allows for increased amounts of light sensitivity. The color filter technology helps Sony megapixel cameras to deliver superior images in low light situations where some conventional megapixel cameras falter. Light Funnel technology is also used to achieve clear and detailed video footage. This enables the Sony cameras to provide bright image output of moving objects, even in less-than-ideal lighting conditions.

Each of Sony's new megapixel cameras will also include a varifocal auto iris lens, intelligent motion detection, two-way audio support, and Power over Ethernet.
