Smartvue S8 network camera system set for January release

We've talked about the new Smartvue S8 IP camera system before, and now we have a good idea when it will hit the market - January, 2009. That's the expected ship date for this intriguing solution for home and small business surveillance. Smartvue S8 is an integrated plug-and-play surveillance system that uses compact, wireless IP cameras along with a 1TB video recorder. Wireless connectivity allows for flexible installation, and users can monitor the cameras remotely on their PCs or cell phones.

Smartvue S8 cameras and recorders are self-configuring so setup only takes a few minutes. The system operates using long-range 802.11N wireless connectivity, which enables users to place their cameras in all kinds of locations without having to run cables everywhere. Each camera uses a 2 megapixel sensor to capture exceptionally detailed video images. The cameras perform well in low-light situations, and use H.264 compression to save more video while using less storage space.
