QNAP Security has announced the latest version of embedded firmware for its VioStar line of NVRs. The new 3.1.0 firmware will be offered for free to existing VioStar users. It offers a number of important new features designed to enhance the reliability and usability of QNAP VioStar network video recorders. Highlights include intelligent video analytics, generic IP camera integration, and digital watermarking.
QNAP Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA) allow security personnel to detect potential threats as they happen. The goal is to catch criminals in the act, rather than after an incident occurs. QNAP 3.1.0 firmware with IVA offers five types of advanced video analytics: motion detection, missing object, foreign object, camera obstruction, and camera out of focus. These analytics aim to maximize the effectiveness of video surveillance and monitoring.
Generic IP Camera Integration provides users with the ability to quickly and easily integrate any new network camera by themselves without having to wait for camera integration from the manufacturer. Simple configuration can take place within the NVR.
Digital Watermarking is a tool available with the QNAP 3.1.0 firmware that increases the security level of recorded video. It serves as a form of data encryption that helps to ensure that the original recorded video isn't compromised or tampered with.
