QNAP introduces VioStor Pro Series network video recorder
QNAP recently launched the VioStor Pro Series, the first Linux-based network video recorder (NVR) that is capable of truly PC-less configuration, monitoring IP cameras over a network, and video playback using a high-definition VGA monitor or TV. The four new models in the VioStor series all feature dual-core Intel® Atom™ processors with 1 GB memory that delivers network throughput of 176Mbps. This produces high-quality megapixel recordings and saves on power consumption.
The VioStor NVR is compatible with several different video compression formats including H.264, MPEG4, M-JPEG, and MxPEG. Each NVR in the series comes pre-installed with the latest firmware version 3.3.0. The VioStor Pro Series NVR is compatible with over 800 IP camera and video server models from major manufacturers including Axis, ACTi, Arecont Vision, Mobotix, Vivotek and more.
The NVR comes with a wide range of features that make video monitoring easy for system administrators including 120-channel monitoring from multiple VioStor NVR servers without having to install any additional software, intelligent video analytics, digital watermarking, advanced event management, email and SMS alerts, generic IP camera integration, online RAID capacity expansion and level migration, HDD S.M.A.R.T., and dual Giga LAN.
To configure the system, monitor the IP cameras and play video, surveillance operators need only a USB mouse and a VGA monitor connected to the VioStor NVR. The NVR makes it possible to create a surveillance system without the need for a PC.
