Milestone unveils new XProtect Professional and XProtect Basis+ 6.5 editions
Milestone Systems has announced the latest edition of its XProtect Professional and XProtect Basis+ IP video software platforms. Milestone XProtect Professional 6.5 is designed for small to mid-sized surveillance installations, and can manage up to 64 IP cameras. Milestone XProtect Basis+ 6.5 is a single server surveillance system that can support up to 25 network cameras. Each new edition offers some exciting features that improve upon past releases.
The latest enhancements to Milestone XProtect Professional include support for two-way audio communication, optimized storage and bandwidth usage, and localization (the user can now choose between 16 languages in the Smart Client). With its improved audio capabilities, the XProtect Professional server can now transmit the Smart Client's microphone input to any remote speaker attached to a network device. The software also supports new compression technologies such as H.264, and is optimized for multi-streaming.
Milestone XProtect Basis+ 6.5 offers support for new compression methods, improved archiving, and localization. New compression technologies supported by the software include H.264, MPEG-4 ASP, and MxPEG. The archiving features have been enhanced with an optimized archiving process, hourly archiving, and the ability to span across several local discs.
