Milestone and Vidient team up to integrate video analytics and IP video management
Milestone and Vidient Systems have announced a partnership aimed to improve the effectiveness of video analytics in IP video surveillance. While Milestone is a leader in IP video management software, Vidient specializes in video analytics software for a range of security and safety applications. The two companies plan to integrate Vidient's SmartCatch 3.0 analytics software into the Milestone XProtect open platform solution for IP video management.
The new integration works to automate the process of monitoring large numbers of cameras. Rather than relying on security personnel to watch over hundreds of cameras simultaneously, every camera can be automatically, and continuously, monitored by Vidient software in order to detect specific suspicious events. When suspicious activities are perceived, the Milestone XProtect software immediately alerts the appropriate security personnel and displays video of the event in questions.
For large-scale surveillance applications, this can be a major help in increasing the effectiveness of the system. One of the main goals of Milestone's partnership with Vidient is to make it easier for security personnel to monitor extensive surveillance networks.
