JVC rolled out two new IP cameras this week at ISC West in Las Vegas. The JVC VN-V26U is a flexible day/night camera with two-way audio and simultaneous MJPEG and MPEG-4 compression, while the VN-V686U is a powerful and versatile PTZ dome designed for indoor surveillance applications.

JVC took home some hardware recently for its VN-V686WPU IP camera. The rugged outdoor camera won a New Product Showcase award in the IP products category at a ceremony hosted in Las Vegas by the Security Industry Association (SIA). The awards program honors excellence in security product design.

The latest member of JVC's V.Networks lineup, the JVC VN-X35U IP camera, is designed to handle the video surveillance needs of schools, retailers, government and law enforcement agencies, and other industries requiring high-resolution video footage. The VN-X35U is a 1.3 megapixel camera that delivers precise image detail both day and night. It also offers real-time image scaling from VGA to QUAD VGA resolution. This allows users to conserve bandwidth while still benefiting from megapixel resolution when necessary.

JVC has expanded it V.Networks IP camera lineup with the release of the JVC VN-V685U PTZ camera. JVC is claiming that the VN-V685U is the first PTZ network camera with Power over Ethernet and continuous 360-degree rotation. The camera's 360-degree panning capabilities are provided by an ultra smooth direct drive motor. The VN-V685U also features 27x optical zoom for detailed surveillance of faraway individuals and objects.

JVC took Manufacturer of the Year honors at the Milestone Integration Platform Symposium (MIPS 2009) recently held in Las Vegas. JVC received the award for its line of embedded network video recorders, including the JVC VR-N1600U and VR-N900U, and its complete selection of IP network cameras. MIPS is an annual forum that allows advocates of open architecture IP video surveillance to evaluate the state of the IP video industry, and test out new plug-and-play applications.

JVC is planning to exhibit its latest line of PoE network cameras at the IFSEC 2009 global security event in May. The cream of the crop is the new JVC VN-V685U, which is considered the first fully-functional PTZ dome camera that supports Power over Ethernet. The VN-V685U offers precise and silent pan/tilt control using JVC's durable direct drive motor. Other attributes include 27x optical zoom, true day/night functionality, and simultaneous full-frame MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG streams. The camera is available in versions for both indoor and outdoor use.

The River Vale Police Department in New Jersey recently installed a digital surveillance solution from JVC Professional Products. The new IP surveillance system replaces an outdated analog system with a mix of indoor and outdoor cameras watching over any areas at the police station where officers and visitors are including entrances, the dispatch center, the jail, and the parking lot.

Oregon's Canby School District has deployed a new IP-based surveillance network supporting 48 IP cameras from JVC. The system features a combination of fixed mini-dome cameras and box cameras monitoring nine facility sites, including six elementary schools, a middle school, high school, and the district business office. All of the cameras are triggered by motion detection, and record to JVC network video recorders.

Milestone recently released XProtect Device Pack 5.1 that updates support for new devices on their video management software platforms including XProtect Enterprise, Professional, Essential, Go, and Corporate. The 5.1 version Device Pack also includes support for new firmware on a range of different devices and solves different software issues that were related to Device Pack 5.0.
