Learn How To Select the Best Security Camera System for use in your Home or Business in our Insider's Guide to Video Surveillance.
IQinvision network cameras are proving to be quite popular in the Netherlands, specifically in Rotterdam, where the company reports at least 20 downtown shops are now using IQeye megapixel cameras. Area shopkeepers and local police are working together on a video security system that allows the police department to remotely monitor the IQeye cameras and access surveillance footage in instances of theft or emergencies. The surveillance system was launched in response to an increase in robberies throughout the commercial district. Response to the program has been so positive that the police department even won a Dutch innovation award for the deployment of the IQeye camera network.
Area shops involved in the program now operate IQeye 702 network cameras continuously recording to a 16GB CF memory card that's actually located within the camera. IQrecorder software manages the recording process allowing shopkeepers to have a record of all incidents. Meanwhile, the surveillance footage is fed directly to the Rotterdam Police Dispatch via Milestone XProtect video management software. If a shopkeeper notices trouble or a potential robbery taking place, he or she can press a button that triggers the cameras to send a live feed to the police control room. This makes response times almost instantaneous and provides police with clear megapixel footage fro identification purposes.
