Port surveillance project features IndigoVision IP video solution

Published by Dan on May 18, 2009 4:01 PM

Port Louis, the capitol and primary port of Mauritius, has installed a new video surveillance system using IP video equipment from IndigoVision. The harbor-wide surveillance system is extremely flexible and fully scalable. With this new IP-based solution, operators from multiple agencies can monitor their own operations within the port. A central control room and several sub-control rooms have been set up to allow the Mauritius Police Force, the National Coast Guard, Customs and the Maritius Port Authority to access live and recorded video footage from each of the IP network cameras installed in and around the port facilities.

IndigoVision IP cameras now monitor a variety of high-security locations throughout the port, including the main gates, terminal and quay areas, and the customs area. Each network camera records continuously at 25 frames per second. The footage is stored for a month on 8 IndigoVision network video recorders. The NVRs combine to provide a total storage of 16TB, and users can access the footage from any Control Center station with permissions. A combination of indoor, outdoor, and pan/tilt/zoom security cameras make up the new surveillance system, which now provides comprehensive monitoring of the entire harbor.
