IndigoVision IP surveillance system monitors petrochemical storage terminal
The Royal Vopak petrochemical storage terminal in West Thurrock, UK has turned to IndigoVision for a comprehensive IP surveillance solution. The terminal poses a difficult surveillance challenge. The facility features 125 storage tanks and provides storing and handling of gaseous and liquid chemical and oil products. The products are transported from the terminal by road, pipeline, and river. Video security plays a critical role in protecting the facility and making sure the environment is safe for Vopak workers.
The Royal Vopak terminal recently made the decision to switch from an analog CCTV system to a networked IP video solution from IndigoVision. The new IP surveillance system uses the facilities existing CCTV cameras, a combination of fixed models a PTZ domes, and connects them to an IndigoVision 8000 transmitter/receiver module. The module converts the analog video footage to MPEG-4 digital video for transmission over the IP network.
IndigoVision Control Center, an IP video and alarm management software, enables operators to remotely view live and recorded footage from the cameras from any computer with a network connection.
By switching to an IP-based system, Royal Vopak is able to take advantage of the many benefits of this cutting-edge technology. The IP video solution is far mote scalable than an analog system, offers remote video monitoring, and can store up to 3 months of digital video footage on a Network Video Recorder (NVR).
