Honeywell Total Connect links IP cameras to the iPhone, iPad and BlackBerry

Published by Dan on May 25, 2010 4:12 PM

Earlier this month we told you about a new app from Exacq designed for remote video monitoring via the iPhone or iPad. Now Honeywell is in on the action with the release of their new Total Connect communications service. The system, which is available as an app for users of the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, and the new iPad, allows users to view live video on the move, and sends automated alerts in emergency situations, or at scheduled times.

Remote users can also remotely control IP cameras, manually record video clips, and take snapshots. These functions are also available for the BlackBerry, and other popular cell phone models and PDAs.

The Honeywell Total Connect system has the ability to detect motion in specific areas using the latest line of Honeywell IP cameras with built-in motion detection. The system can be programmed to detect movement in a certain location, such as a front entrance, and then send an automated alert to the user who can then remotely monitor the situation live from a handheld mobile device.
