Cisco and Pelco team up to develop hi-def IP cameras
Cisco has announced a partnership with security systems specialist Pelco that will result in the development of a new high-definition IP camera line. The co-branded cameras will combine Pelco's imaging expertise with Cisco's leadership in IP networking. They'll be built on Pelco's Sarix technology platform and sold through Cisco Authorized Technology Providers.
Cisco will use HD image technologies from Pelco to build upon its existing catalog of IP cameras and IP-based surveillance solutions. The co-branded cameras from Cisco and Pelco will offer full-frame-rate video, H.264 compression, superior low-light performance, auto focus, and embedded video analytics. Easy integration between physical security and network security is a key focal point in the development of the cameras. The finished product should be available by the end of the year.
