ISC West 2009 offers first glimpse of Canon VB-C500D network camera

Published by Dan on March 31, 2009 3:24 PM

Canon's new VB-C500D network camera is on display this week at the ISC West 2009 conference in Las Vegas. The Canon VB-C500D provides outstanding image quality and advanced features with Genuine Canon Optics and a powerful DIGIC NET Processor. This versatile IP mini dome camera is ideal for monitoring retail and convenience stores, lobbies, receptions areas, hotels, and other locations where an unobtrusive, fixed security camera is required.

Canon VB-C500D

The Canon VB-C500D features an 82-degree wide-angle lens that provides 2.4x optical zoom, and 4x digital zoom for zeroing in on subjects. It also features high-sensitivity progressive-scan CCD for capturing clear images of moving objects. To ensure proper exposure, the camera includes automatic day/night functionality, and a Smart Shade Control that adjusts the contrast between dark and bright areas of an image.

Because of the camera's DIGIC NET processor, the VB-C500D is able to encode and transmit MPEG-4 and MJPEG video streams simultaneously in VGA resolution at up to 30 frames per second. And up to 30 users can access the video images at the same time. Other highlights of the Canon vB-C500D include Power over Ethernet, built-in motion detection, and two-way audio.
