Canon VB-60 IP camera impresses at ASIS 2008
Canon is showing off its new VB-60 network camera at ASIS International 2008. The PTZ IP camera boasts some impressive technology. It features a 40x optical zoom, pan/tilt/zoom functionality, and a 56-degree wide-angle lens. This enables the Canon VB-60 to monitor larger areas that might ordinarily require multiple security cameras.
The camera is designed to automatically adjust for any environmental temperature changes that might impact the lenses. Using Canon's Smart Shade control, the VB-60 is able brighten up darker portions of a scene without washing out the properly lit areas, all in real-time. It streams 30 frames per second at full VGA resolution with simultaneous MPEG-4 and MJPEG, and can pan at 150 degrees per second.
