Even wild animals need video surveillance security. South Africa’s Kruger National Park has just installed a new video system using Milestone Systems IP video management software and Axis network cameras. About 2 million tourists a day visit the 7,000 square mile park, and the animals within the borders are at risk from poachers and vehicles driving in the area.
Axis network cameras are positioned at the eight entrance gates to the National Park, and throughout the camping grounds. The cameras will help park staff keep track of any poaching activity in the area, and help them identify vehicles related to accidents with animals. The new surveillance system will also help monitor cash transactions of park employees.
The Milestone XProtect IP video software makes surveillance footage available from the park headquarters in Skukuza. Local access is also available from the eight main gates of the National Park helping park officials to more easily cover the large amount of territory.
