Axis Q7404 video encoder helps analog CCTV systems migrate to IP video

Published by Dan on April 10, 2009 11:11 AM

One of the new products Axis revealed at the ISC West conference was the Q7404 video encoder. Designed to help users transition from analog CCTV to IP video surveillance, the Axis Q7404 is a four-channel video encoder that offers H.264 video compression. With H.264 you can stream high-quality video while significantly reducing bandwidth and storage usage. The savings are sizeable when compared to other compression technologies.

Axis Q7404

The Axis Q7404 video encoder provides a cost-effective solution that allows analog CCTV systems to take advantage of the benefits of network video without having to replace existing analog cameras. This is especially applicable to users who are in the process of transitioning to an IP-based surveillance system, but already have analog cameras in place.

The encoder converts analog video footage to digital for remote monitoring and recording. Key attributes of the Q7404 include enhanced video motion detection, active tampering alarm and audio detection, and support for remote control of pan/tilt/zoom cameras. The encoder supports Motion JPEG as well as H.264, and each video stream can be individually configured with different compression formats, frame rates and resolutions to fully maximize network bandwidth and storage efficiency.
