QNAP Security is rolling out two new NVR network surveillance systems. The QNAP VioStor-8040-RP is a high-performance network video recorder featuring an 8-bay chassis, while the QNAP VioStor-8040 NVR comes in the form of an 8-bay tower. Each NVR supports over 24 IP camera brands and 300 different IP camera models from leading manufacturers such as Axis, ACTi, Arecont Vision, Canon, IQeye, and Vivotek. They provide 40-channel recording and 16TB storage capacity with 8 hot-swappable hard drive bays.

QNAP Security has announced the latest version of embedded firmware for its VioStar line of NVRs. The new 3.1.0 firmware will be offered for free to existing VioStar users. It offers a number of important new features designed to enhance the reliability and usability of QNAP VioStar network video recorders. Highlights include intelligent video analytics, generic IP camera integration, and digital watermarking.

D-Link has announced a new family of network video recorders designed to offer improved performance and ease-of-use when managing IP surveillance cameras. Both NVRs come bundled with sophisticated tools for video management and camera recording, while offering remote access via the internet. The lower-cost D-Link DNS-722-4 2-Bay NVR Basic supports D-Link network cameras exclusively, while the D-Link DNS-726-4 2-Bay NVR Pro is compatible with D-Link IP cameras as well as third party surveillance cameras.

QNAP has unveiled a new mobile surveillance application for its VioStor NVR network surveillance systems. It's called VSMobile, and when installed on a Windows PDA phone, it provides users with the ability to monitor network cameras while on the move.

QNAP has announced a firmware upgrade for its VioStor series of network video recorders. The new firmware, version 3.2.0, supports more powerful event management, increased user access control, and a larger selection of IP camera models. VioStor NVR users can download the updated firmware for free at the QNAP website.

QNAP is at the SecuTech Expo in Taipei, Taiwan this week showcasing a new fleet of high-performance network video recorders. This latest batch of NVRs offers some welcome additions to QNAP's already popular VioStor NVR series. On display at SecuTech are the company's new 2-drive, 4-drive, and 6-drive VioStor NVR models. Each NVR incorporates an Intel Atom D-510 dual-core processor for reliable performance and maximum throughput with very low power consumption.
