Axis network cameras help secure La Praille shopping mall
The La Praille shopping mall in Geneva has installed a comprehensive surveillance system that features over 100 IP cameras from Axis Communications. The new security camera system will help to prevent unwanted activity such as vandalism, property damage, theft, and pick-pocketing.
The surveillance installation incorporates a combination of Axis 212 PTZ network cameras and Axis 225FD fixed domes. With pan, tilt, and zoom functionality, each Axis 212 PTZ camera can cover wide areas that would normally require multiple conventional cameras. The Axis 225FD dome cameras will be used to monitor parking lots.
La Praille chose to go with a network-based surveillance solution because the Axis cameras can integrate with the mall's existing Ethernet system for easy integration. All surveillance cameras are now linked to a central control room where security personnel monitor the footage. The video images are also stored digitally on NVR recording servers with 4-Terabyte capacity.
Since the IP surveillance system was installed, the mall has reported a significant decrease in theft, vandalism, and disorderly conduct.
