Home surveillance success story: Digital camera identifies three in burglary
We've talked quite a bit about how IP surveillance technology has affected home security. New digital systems are far more effective and functional than their analog predecessors, and as the technology continues to improve, digital surveillance equipment has become affordable even to the average homeowner. A recent break-in of a household in Framingham, Mass. demonstrates the effectiveness of digital surveillance in the home.
Last week, the Framingham home was burglarized. A laptop, digital camera, and a $1000 wristwatch were all reported missing after the incident. Thankfully, and unbeknownst to the thieves, the home was outfitted with a digital surveillance camera, which captured clear images of the three suspects in question. As it turns out, the motley crew included three teens, one of whom is reportedly a friend of the victims' son.
The three suspects were charged with breaking and entering and larceny from a building, and have also been tied to a second break-in.
