In the last two months, vandals have torn down or stolen some of the American Flags decorating Route 1 Bridge over the Mianus River in Greenwich, Colorado. Now for more than a month, the flags have been under the surveillance of a leading-edge IP security camera by manufacturer Arecont Vision.
So far, the camera has already recorded one act of vandalism that is currently under investigation. Mounted above the Newman Street Public Works Facility, the surveillance camera is in clear sight for onlookers to see.
A local security company teamed with Arecont Vision to donate and install the security equipment. The camera, estimated at $3,000, comes with sophisticated IP video technology, allowing local officials to view the live camera feed from their laptops or Smartphones. The new surveillance camera records the flag display 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
