The Dubai Police is ready to install top-of-the-line security cameras throughout the city to curtail crime and build a safer environment for residents. The decision to invest in a highly sophisticated surveillance system was made after security cameras in malls, hotels, and the airport helped catch the 33 European and Australian suspects who were accused of taking part in the assassination of Hamas leader Mahmoud Al Mabhouh.
A specialized team formed by Director of Criminal Investigation Division Brigadier Khalil Al Mansouri will decide where to place the new surveillance cameras. Mansouri says that fewer cameras will be needed to fulfill the mission since each comes with intelligent technological features.
The surveillance cameras that were previously installed have played a critical role in solving Dubai crimes. The new cameras will be mounted in public areas so residents’ privacy rights won’t be violated.
