Church surveillance camera catches woman abandoning baby

Published by Dan on September 30, 2008 8:32 AM

Surveillance video from a church in Federal Way, Wash. revealed a woman abandoning her baby early Sunday morning. The newborn girl is ok after spending six hours wrapped in a beach towel, unattended. Soon after the footage from the church security camera went public, the mother turned herself in to police.

The infant was discovered outside the church just before 8 a.m. Sunday morning. Video surveillance footage shows that the mother dropped off the baby around 2:15 a.m. A parishioner found the child who is now being cared for by the Department of Social and Health Services. Meanwhile, the remorseful mother is cooperating with police who plan on releasing her and presenting a child abandonment case to the King County prosecutor's office.
