Axis network cameras chosen for Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma casinos

Published by Amelia on August 18, 2009 1:40 PM

Axis network cameras are being used to provide video surveillance for six casinos owned by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, the third largest tribe in the United States. Choctaw casinos replaced their system of analog cameras and monitors and installed over 1,000 Axis PTZ and fixed network cameras to provide high quality IP video surveillance.

The casinos made the move toward an entirely IP video surveillance system to improve the quality of footage. Previous analog footage was at times not able to be used for prosecution or for determining insurance coverage for safety claims and concerns because it wasn’t of a high enough quality. New Tribal Internal Control Standards for casinos require that cameras record at least 30 frames per second in areas where money is being handled. Axis network cameras met the new standards and are now employed in cash intensive areas and outside the buildings.

The Axis network camera solution uses an open platform design that is secure and able to be expanded easily and affordably. Choctaw is planning on building four new casinos by 2010 and using Axis cameras in each new building.
