Lansing, Michigan just received a new city-wide video surveillance system that aims to clean up a number of known high-crime areas. The new surveillance deployment uses IP cameras and equipment from IndgiVision. By embracing IP video technology, the city now has a comprehensive IP camera network that the police department can tap into remotely from any location.

Earlier this month we told you about a new app from Exacq designed for remote video monitoring via the iPhone or iPad. Now Honeywell is in on the action with the release of their new Total Connect communications service. The system, which is available as an app for users of the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, and the new iPad, allows users to view live video on the move, and sends automated alerts in emergency situations, or at scheduled times.

Axis recently introduced a new series of high-performance, outdoor-ready PTZ dome cameras, including two HDTV models. These rugged network cameras are geared towards demanding applications such as city surveillance, and video security for airports, harbors, and stadiums. With the inclusion of HDTV capabilities, the new Axis line allows for more detailed monitoring in full frame rate.

Bosch has unveiled a new family of standalone IP cameras, each offering a removable 16GB SD card that can record days of footage inside the camera. The Bosch IP 200 Series is geared towards applications such as small office surveillance and video security for retail shops.

Security Products magazine recently announced its 2010 GovSec awards, with the Axis M3114-R network camera taking home the honors in the IP Video Category. The Security Products GovSec Awards were launched in 2009 to honor outstanding products in six award categories within the security industry.

Exacq has developed a new app that acts as a fully featured video surveillance viewer for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The Exacq NVR Viewer allows you to view your IP cameras remotely in real-time, and search and playback recorded video. You can even control pan/tilt/zoom camera functions.

VideoIQ is set to show off its line of iCVR intelligent surveillance products at next week's IFSEC security conference. The iCVR series of cameras, encoders and video management software aims to create surveillance solutions that offer the option of zero bandwidth recording, while providing adaptive video analytics.
