Panasonic is the latest in a long list of IP camera manufacturers releasing new models that promise HD picture quality. The new Panasonic lineup includes megapixel fixed network cameras, and mini-dome H.264 cameras, each boasting i-Pro Smart HD high-performance features.

Arecont Vision is unveiling its AV10005 series of megapixel cameras at ISC West 2010. The Arecont Vision AV10005 is unique in that it combines the resolution of a 10-megapixel camera and full HD 1080p performance at 30 frames per second, all in the same camera system. This innovative dual mode camera offers 33 times the resolution of standard VGA-resolution cameras, and uses H.264 compression to reduce network bandwidth usage while conserving storage space.

Panasonic Systems has announced a new 4-channel video encoder that offers easy integration between analog security cameras and IP networked system applications. The Panasonic WJ-GXE500 encoder is a hybrid solution designed for those transitioning from analog to IP-based surveillance. Analog footage is converted to digital, and streamed using H.264 compression to optimize network bandwidth and storage space.

IQinVision is expanding its popular IQeye Basic Line of mini dome network cameras. The new camera models will be on display this week at the ISC West conference in Las Vegas. Exciting features available with the latest IQeye offerings include H.264 compression and HD megapixel picture quality.

A new IP-based surveillance system is up and running at Casino Copenhagen. The system features several hundred network cameras all managed with Milestone XProtect IP video software. Like all casinos, Casino Copenhagen relies on video surveillance to meet strict security requirements, and to manage internal procedures. Using Milestone software, operators are able to control hundreds of IP cameras simultaneously, view live and archived video at the same time, and quickly export video evidence to authorities when necessary.

VideoIQ announced a slew of new products this week, including the iCVR dome camera line, boasting zero bandwidth recording and adaptive analytics, and an advanced video management system. What exactly does "zero bandwidth recording" really mean? In this case, it means each VideoIQ iCVR dome camera can hold up to half a terabyte of onboard storage. That's a significant amount compared to the amount of onboard storage we usually see. With this much storage built into the camera, you could conceivably record months worth of footage without having to stream to a central NVR. So that, in essence, is how these cameras can record without hoarding bandwidth.

While we're on the subject of new camera announcements, let's take a look at the latest batch of Canon IP cameras recently added to the VideoSurveillance.com store. The new Canon network camera offerings include the VBC500VD vandal-resistant mini dome, the VB-C60 PTZ camera, and the VB-C500D mini dome.
