A new partnership between ACTi and iOmniscient aims to provide system integrators with comprehensive solutions for intelligent IP surveillance. The end-to-end solutions will incorporate video analytics from iOmniscient with ACTi's lineup of high-performance IP cameras.

JVC is partnering up with Optex to market an IP Perimeter Protection Solution featuring JVC's V.Networks PTZ IP cameras in combination with the new REDWALL REDSCAN RLS-3060 synthesized intelligent PIR detection system. The pairing is designed to provide a powerful solution for intruder detection and prevention.

D-Link has announced a new family of network video recorders designed to offer improved performance and ease-of-use when managing IP surveillance cameras. Both NVRs come bundled with sophisticated tools for video management and camera recording, while offering remote access via the internet. The lower-cost D-Link DNS-722-4 2-Bay NVR Basic supports D-Link network cameras exclusively, while the D-Link DNS-726-4 2-Bay NVR Pro is compatible with D-Link IP cameras as well as third party surveillance cameras.

Axis Communications will be supplying IP network cameras for a new video surveillance system monitoring Sydney's Waratah train fleet. This is a huge installation, expected to feature about 7,000 Axis network cameras. The first phase of the project will begin in Fall 2009. Axis 209MFD-R network cameras will be installed in each train. The 209MFD-R is specifically designed for use in mass transit vehicles. It has a flat discreet design, and is built to resist vibrations, dust, temperature fluctuations, and tampering.

The British International School in Cairo (BISC) has chosen ACTi IP cameras for its new school surveillance installation. The video security systems features 44 ACTi ACM-5711 box cameras and 4 outdoor ACTi CAM-6630 speed dome cameras all managed by ACTi NVR Enterprise IP video software. The cameras were installed at key locations througout the school to increase the overall level of security for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Milestone Systems and ioimage have announced a technology partnership in which ioimage intelligent network cameras and video servers will now be supported by Milestone's XProtect video management platform. The pairing gives users unique IP surveillance capabilities for applications of all sizes.

The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) has installed an IP video solution from OnSSI to manage a large-scale surveillance network monitoring multiple sites. The IP surveillance system provides video security for the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, the MassMutual Center, and the Boston Common Garage. It uses a suite of OnSSI IP video products built around the NetDVMS enterprise-level video management system.

We often hear of construction sites using surveillance cameras to increase security in a work zone, prevent theft, keep intruders out, that sort of thing. In the case of a new development project at the University of Bedfordshire, the cameras are also providing students and staff the ability to follow the progress as a new student center and residence hall take shape. The University now has two Mobotix network cameras monitoring the project. Time-lapse footage will be taken automatically over the course of 18 months, then put together in a film showing the demolition and construction involved in the redevelopment project. In the meantime, students and staff can check in on the site in real time.

At last month's ASIS tradeshow in Anaheim, it was announced that Security Products Magazine had named the QNAP VioStor VS-8040 network video recorder as its "New Product of the Year." The award recognizes outstanding product development achievements by security manufacturers whose products have the ability to improve workplace security.

Bosh has released new versions of its Video Recording Manager (VRM) and VIDOS Professional Software Suite. Both software solutions now support video streams using cutting-edge H.264 technology. H.264 compression significantly reduces video files sizes, allowing users to stream and record higher quality video images while using less bandwidth and storage space than with previous compression technologies.

Portugal's massive Palacio Do Gelo shopping complex is now being monitored by an IP-based surveillance system featuring 200 Sony network cameras. All in all, the shopping facility includes hundreds of shops and restaurants, a theater, and a supermarket. That's a lot of ground to cover. The Sony network cameras are part of an integrated solution that combines video surveillance, digital signage, and a public address system, all operating along the same IP infrastructure.

Last week at the ASIS trade show, it was announced that the VideoIQ iCVR line of intelligent IP cameras is now supported by Milestone XProtect video management software. This integration provides users with a seamless solution for proactive surveillance using advanced video analytics.
