Heritage High School in Saginaw, Mich. is gearing up to install a new, cutting-edge surveillance system for the start of 2009. The IP-based solution will consist of ACTi network cameras controlled and managed by IP video software from Exacq Technologies. Live camera feeds can be monitored remotely and all video footage will be stored for 30 days in case an incident requires review.

Southern California's Poway Unified School District is in the midst of a large-scale construction project that requires continuous video surveillance to protect the site and construction materials from vandalism and theft. The chosen solution features intelligent IP video appliances from ioimage along with Pelco Spectra IV network cameras.

JVC has expanded it V.Networks IP camera lineup with the release of the JVC VN-V685U PTZ camera. JVC is claiming that the VN-V685U is the first PTZ network camera with Power over Ethernet and continuous 360-degree rotation. The camera's 360-degree panning capabilities are provided by an ultra smooth direct drive motor. The VN-V685U also features 27x optical zoom for detailed surveillance of faraway individuals and objects.

The Hertz Corporation has implemented a new video surveillance system that uses ioimage video analytics to protect its operation center in Israel, control access to restricted zones, and deter theft of vehicles and auto parts. The IP-based video surveillance system includes ioimage network cameras, multi-channel intelligent video encoders, and Command Center software which provides centralized video management and system-wide camera control.

A large shipyard in the Canary Islands recently turned to Sony network cameras for an intelligent video surveillance solution. The shipyard, which repairs, maintains, and converts various types of boats, has installed a total of 20 Sony IP cameras both inside and outside the premises. The Sony surveillance cameras work to improve safety and provide access control for the shipyard and the boats within it.

Liverpool's Knowsley Community College has completed installation of a large-scale video surveillance system featuring 324 Axis network cameras. A study based on the installation has concluded that the IP-based solution saved the school a considerable amount of money when compared to the costs of an analog CCTV system.
